To add or replace raised beds, plans for new and existing plots, including materials and design, must be submitted to the 1st Vice President, for approval in advance of installation. Approval will be provided within 5-7 days or earlier, if possible.
KEY POINTS REGARDING RAISED BEDS:
1. Raised beds cannot be attached to border boards.
2. Leave space (at least 2 inches) between raised beds and border boards to allow for border board replacement. Although borders will be replaced as carefully as possible,
the LBCGA is not responsible for damage cause by placing raised beds too close to the borders.
3. Maximum height of raised bed is not more than 8 inches above ground or above the top of the border boards except by special exemption for ADA purposes.
4. Wood cannot be made of treated material due to release of chemicals into the soil.
Examples of approved raised beds:
